As General SVR, a Telegram channel that specializes in providing inside news from the Kremlin, revealed according to a MailOnline report, the Russian strongman is set to go under the knife in the near future.

General SVR insists that a high-profile Kremlin insider entrusted the outlet with information about Putin’s health and revealed that the Russian president has abdominal cancer and Parkinson’s.

“Putin was recommended to undergo surgery, the date of which is being discussed and agreed. There seems to be no particular urgency, but it cannot be delayed either,” the channel revealed.

Despite Moscow’s ongoing attempts to portray the president as the picture of good health and strength, General SVR goes on to claim the Kremlin insider told them Putin also has “Parkinson’s disease and schizoaffective disorder.”

“Doctors insist that he needs an operation, but the date has not yet been determined,” the source said.

“I don’t know for exactly how long [he will be incapacitated]… I think it’ll be for a short time.”

The insider also revealed that Putin will likely attempt to shift power to ex-FSB chief and Security Council head Nikolai Patrushev rather than to the country’s prime minister in his absence.

“So, while Putin has the operation and comes to his senses… likely two or three days… the actual control of the country passes only to Patrushev,” they added.

Though the power should be automatically transferred to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin according to the Russian constitution, Putin might use his war in Ukraine as an excuse to try and appoint his close ally and war advocate to the seat of power in his absence.

“We know that Putin made it clear to Patrushev that he considers him almost the only truly trusted person and friend in the system of power,” General SVR confirmed in another post.

“Further, the president promised that in case of a sharp deterioration of his (Putin’s) health, the actual management of the country would be transferred, temporarily, to Patrushev.”
