BREAKING: Olympic Figure Skater DIED At The Age Of 31 After An Out-Of-Control Truck Crashed Into Her Car


An Olympic figure skater tragically died at the age of 31 after a truck crashed into her car.

Alexandra Paul was stuck in traffic with her baby son, Charlie, as there was construction work going on a road outside Melancthon, Ontario, when an out-of-control tractor-trailer drove into the construction zone and collided with seven cars on the road.

Paul instantly died while her baby, who was also in the backseat, survived and was rushed to a children’s hospital.

According to reports, three others were left injured, including a 28-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman.

An elderly man was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma center with severe injuries.

County Road 124 was temporarily closed to allow officers to investigate.

Paul and her husband Mitchell Islam competed in a duos segment of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. They tied the knot in September 2021 and welcomed their first child together shortly after.

In 2009, Paul and Mitchell teamed up and won the junior ice dance title at the Canadian national championships.

In 2010, they were awarded a silver medal at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

The pair then went on to win the bronze at the national championships in 2011, 2014 and 2015 during their senior career.

Paul and Islam also won four times at international competitions, including a bronze medal at the US Classic International in 2016.

She then pursued her studies and completed her law degree. She was working as a associate lawyer at Barriston Law when she was killed.

The heartbreaking news of her passing left the skating community devastated.

Skate Canada issued a statement remembering her as a “shining star on and off the ice whose dedication, passion and talents left a mark on the figure skating world.

“Her commitment to excellence was matched only by her warmth and kindness, which endeared her to fellow athletes, coaches, and fans alike.”
