Nurses Advised Not To Use ‘Old-Fashioned’ Words To Avoid Making ‘Trans Patients’ Upset


Nurses have been advised against the use of old-fashioned terms because many feel they could be highly offensive to trans patients.

According to local media reports, a new User’s Guide has been issued for nurses by leading health officials in Sussex who claim the move is a part of their new policy for perinatal care.

In case you weren’t already aware, this was previously called maternity care to help include both trans as well as the non-binary community.

Last month, sources revealed how the same institution started off phase where certain words like Breast milk would now be referred to as human milk or chest milk or milk from a feeding parent. 

But now, the user’s guide has become more elaborate and that means the NHS is stepping in to make sure nurses, as well as doctors, are well aware that certain anatomical terms have been advised for more inclusiveness.

Health chiefs believe the time has come to include these wherever they may find possible and best suited.

Another striking example was eliminating the term vagina with genital opening or front hole. Moreover, the staff was issued the new guide via a list of terms on a document that is now going viral. 

There is an entire list of female body parts like cervix, uterus, breasts being replaced with a column of words that would be better suited,

It also hinted at home maternity is solely restricted to service given to a woman and hence the word must be shunned at the earliest as it doesn’t fulfill the needs of the trans or non-binary members of the society.

Last but not least, the guide shed light on the significance of identifying pregnant trans patients with the gender that they best describe themselves to be.
