One couple is sharing their absolute heartbreak and devastation after their baby was snatched by a complete stranger in seconds.
According to local media outlets, the horrifying incident took place in South Africa recently, and the couple affected says their world will never be the same again.
They claim that they were busy grocery shopping and had placed their little daughter inside the trolley like they normally do at a superstore located in Alberton.
But as soon as the mom turned her second for a split second to pick a few things from the grocery section, her baby was gone.
“It was just for a split second. I needed to get some groceries from that area but little did I know what I was in for”- she revealed.
Shockingly, the culprit turned out to be one of the store’s own employees and it’s really something that has alerted residents.
“Who knew that paying a visit to your local grocery store was no longer safe? For us, it was a nightmare come true”- they explained.
Screaming frantically, the mom says she just couldn’t understand what was happening around her. And on that note, she started searching for the child everywhere, calling her name while crying.
The victim was only eight months old and you can only imagine how the young age made it so much harder to locate her in a crowd full of people.
CCTV footage revealed the exact harrowing moment that the torture unfolded. The store employee calmly walks over and takes the baby without breaking a sweat.
Thankfully the mom’s eyes caught the man taking her young daughter toward another grocery aisle and she frantically followed him as fast as she could. Police were called on time and the employee was arrested but it just goes to show how public places aren’t safe for kids too.
