The heartbroken family of Nicola Bulley has spoken out after the body discovered in a river was identified as hers.
They said that they would never comprehend ‘what Nikki had gone through in her last moments’ as they slammed the media for vilifying the woman’s loved ones.
According to reports, Ms. Bulley’s body was found in River Wyre in Lancashire over three weeks since she vanished while walking their family dog, Willow, on January 27.
Police confirmed in a statement that the body belonged to the mother-of-two.
But the family was quick to slam the media and members of the public who had accused Ms. Bulley’s partner of wrongdoing and ‘misquoted and vilified friends and family.’
“This is absolutely appalling, they have to be held accountable this cannot happen to another family,” they expressed.
Ms. Bulley’s disappearance has received wide attention nationwide, attracting forensic experts, detectives, and conspiracy theorists.
Shortly after she vanished, authorities were forced to put in a place of disorder as YouTube and TikTok influencers rushed to the scene and caused disturbances.
Many people have since visited the area, taking photos to upload on social media. Others went through people’s properties and broke into buildings at night hoping to find the missing mother.
Her partner, Paul Ansell, and close friends have been interviewed and they spoke emotionally about the mother, who had two daughters aged 9 and 6.
A heartbreaking statement was read out on behalf of the grieving family: “Our family liaison officers have had to confirm our worst fears today. We will never be able to comprehend what Nikki had gone through in her last moments and that will never leave us.
“We will never forget Nikki, how could be, she was the center of our world, she was the one who made our lives so special and nothing will cast a shadow over that.”
The statement continued: “Our girls will get the support they need from the people who love them the most. And it saddens us to think that one day we will have to explain to them that the press and members of the public accused their dad of wrongdoing; misquoted and vilified friends and family.
“This is absolutely appalling, they have to be held accountable, this cannot happen to another family.”
