The mother of the Texas school shooter who killed 21 people with his AR-15-style rifle has spoken out and asked the nation for forgiveness.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos barricaded himself inside a classroom at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and shot 19 children and 2 teachers during his onslaught at the school.
After the gunman was killed by law enforcement, his mother has spoken out and said she was “surprised” because she didn’t think her son was a “violent” person.
Now, the shooter’s mother, Adriana Reyes, once again spoke out and asked people not to judge her son and begged them to forgive him for his atrocities.
“I have no words. I have no words to say. I don’t know what he was thinking,” Reyes said in a shocking interview with CNN.
“He had his reasons for doing what he did and please don’t judge him.”
She added: “I only want the innocent children who died to forgive me. Forgive me, forgive my son. I know he had his reasons.”
While Reyes denies claims there was a rift between her and her son, it has since the shooting come to light that the teenager was living with his grandmother, Celia Martinez Gonzalez, at the time of the incident.
Gonzalez was Ramos’ first victim, whereas the 18-year-old shot her in the face before taking her car, crashing the vehicle outside the elementary school, and storming the school with the weapon he bought just days after his 18th birthday.
Previously, Reyes also spoke to DailyMail.com and suggested she was “surprised” because her “son wasn’t a violent person.”
“I pray for those families. I’m praying for all of those innocent children, yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this,” she said shortly after the shooting.
