A fit and healthy mother-of-two died in the hospital days after she collapsed suddenly during a fitness class.
32-year-old Katy Hancock from Witchford, Cambridge, was a loving mother, a primary school teacher, and a fitness coach who was leading a so-called ‘bounce’ class when she fell to the floor without a warning on January 25.
On February 1, a week after her health scare at the gym, the mother-of-two passed away in the hospital, leaving behind husband Edd and their two kids, 2-year-old Taylor and 4-year-old Dylan. According to the doctors, the mother suffered a fatal brain aneurysm.
“She was extremely lively and active and incredibly funny. She was really witty, she took the mickey all the time and was infrequently serious about things,” the young woman’s grieving father, Chris Taylor, expressed in an interview with CambridgeshireLive.
Katy will be remembered as a dedicated teacher and mother who frequently took her kids cycling and canoeing to help them live a healthy lifestyle.
Her family has since also launched a GoFundMe page to help her grieving husband take care of their family and provide means for the children’s higher education.
“I want to put a message out there to thank everyone who’s made a donation – we’re overwhelmed by that and massively grateful,” dad Chris added.
“Katy was a light in terms of her personality, she was always having last word and was generally quite forthright on things. She used to enjoy herself a lot and then when she settled down, she became the most natural mum to her two kids.”
The father, whose family owns a pub in Cambridge, went on to thank the well-wishers who brought floral tributes to the bar as well as directly to Edd’s house to share their sympathy.
“She was even more popular than I realized she was, and I thought she was popular – I’m surprised by the number of people who have popped up in the comments and that sort of thing,” Chris added.
