A mother and her son reportedly killed her 19-year-old daughter and took photos with her remains after she got pregnant and secretly married her boyfriend.
17-year-old Sanjay Mote from India allegedly decapitated his pregnant sister Kirti Thore in her home while she was making tea for them.
Sanjay and mother Shobha Mote, 39, allegedly posed for a photo with Kirti’s remains and proudly showed it to their shocked neighbors.
According to BBC Marathi, Kirti had eloped and secretly tied the knot with her college sweetheart Avinash Thore. Her family didn’t like him because he was poorer than their family.
On Sunday, Shobha and Sanjay asked to visit Kirti’s home. But while she was preparing tea for them, the 17-year-old attacked his pregnant sister behind.
The mother held her daughter while the teen beheaded his sister using a curved blasé used for harvesting crops.
Shobha and Sanjay were both under arrest. Speaking to Times of India, Superintendent of police Nimit Goyal said: “The boy seems to have taken inspiration from a Marathi movie. He beheaded his sister in the kitchen while she was preparing tea for him and his mother.
“After that, he and the mother took a selfie with the head.”
Goyal said that authorities sized the phone. “We will send the cellphone for a forensic analysis to recover the picture. It is a crucial piece of evidence.”
Kirti’s grieving husband was at home when his wife was brutally killed. Police said that he was also attacked by his brother-in-law but he was able to escape.
“Her husband, who was ill, was lying in the house. He woke up hearing the sound of falling utensils and rushed to the kitchen,” police officer Kailash Prajapati told NDTV.
“The woman’s brother tried to kill him too but he escaped. Later, the brother came out of the house with her head in his hand.
“He then came to the police station and surrendered.”
