Heartbreaking images coming in from Ukraine show a seriously injured mother breastfeeding her newborn daughter.
The Ukrainian mother says her home became the target of intense Russian hostility recently as a giant missile struck her residence.
Moreover, the mother revealed how terrified she felt after she tried to shield her child from the effects of the intense conflict that had been taking place in her area.
“I was with my child. The sounds were alarming and before I knew it, there was shattered glass everywhere. I didn’t know what to do”- she explained.
The war has entered into its fourth week but the battle for Kyiv continues as Russian forces carry out violent military strikes in the Ukrainian capital city. The end result so far has been numerous civilian casualties who happen to arise in the line of fire, being killed instantly.
This 27-year-old mother’s case is no exception as viral images of the seriously hurt mom are now going viral as she tries to breastfeed her six-week-old child while covering in bandages on her hospital bed.
The mother was identified as Olga and she and her tiny infant are now becoming a new symbol of the defiance taking place in Ukraine.
“I was badly wounded in the head. Blood began to flow. And it even flowed upon my little baby”- the mother cried while seated on her hospital bed where she is currently undergoing treatment as a result of the attack.
At first, the mother became so confused. She thought her child was bleeding but she soon realized that it was actually her that was injured.
In recent images making the viral rounds on social media, Olga’s head is covered in bandages while her upper body is covered in cuts and bruises. She says she’s lucky to make it out alive as many condemn the incident and call for an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
