31-year-old Kane Mitchell reportedly killed 11-week-old Teddie by inflicting multiple injuries and smashing his head against a hard surface.

But a video shows the boy’s mother Lucci Smith lying to police at Cambridgeshire Police after her son tragically died in November 2019.

Mitchell was not Teddie’s biological father but had been living with Smith and her children in their St. Neots home.

According to reports, Smith was on a school run when the 31-year-old attacked the young boy. However, she did not call emergency services for over 30 minutes after being asked to do so.

Her son suffered horrific injuries that cops compared to those suffered by Baby P.

During the interview for Channel 4 series 24 Hours in Police Custody, Smith said that she cared about her son more than “anything in the world”.

When asked by police how Teddie suffered injuries – including 17 broken ribs, fractures to his collarbone and skull, and also spinal, eye, and brain damage – she said that she had ‘no idea.’

When asked again how her son suffered the horrific injuries, she replied: “If there was then I would say because he’s my son at the end of the day and he means more to me than anybody.”

Detectives monitored Mitchell and Smith after the baby boy was taken to hospital. Both of them were arrested when Teddie passed away ten days later.

Mitchell was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years in prison while Smith was sentenced to a two-year community order.

One person commented: “She is as guilty as the coward who murdered little Teddie, both should be locked up for the rest of their miserable lives with no segregation from other inmates.”

Another wrote: “Looking at all these cases recently the one thing they all had in common was that the murders were carried out by mother and partner, in the Star Hobson case in Keighley the partner was another woman.”
