A young mother tragically lost her life after falling off a cliff while posing for a selfie behind the safety barriers.
38-year-old Rosy Loomba was a mom-of-two who was visiting Australia’s Grampians National Park together with her children and her husband, Basant.
Once on top of a cliff at the Boroka Lookout, Rosy and Basant from Craigieburn, Melbourne, were waiting in line to take a selfie before deciding to cross the safety barrier when it was their time for photo-taking.
While posing for a picture, the mother slipped and found herself dangling off the edge of the cliff. Desperate to save his wife, Basant rushed to the woman’s aid and attempted to lift her to safety.
Unfortunately, Rosy slipped from her husband’s arms and plunged some one hundred feet to her death in front of her horrified sons.
Following the recovery of her body, it was revealed that Rosy suffered a dislocated spine, skull fractures, and various other injuries.
“I note that adventurers and park attendees may continue to climb fences to access lookouts in order to get a photo or for their own curiosity,” Deputy State Coroner Jacqui Hawkins said after the incident.
“Mrs Loomba’s death is a reminder of the dangers associated with ignoring signage and fencing, which is put in place to keep people safe.”
According to the reports, people commonly scale the safety barriers at the lookout to take better photos despite the warnings.
As Parks Victoria since confirmed, the authority is “reviewing the recommendations from the Coroner’s Court” and “reviewing the existing signage” in response to the unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, the mom’s heartbroken family revealed they were still in shock as they branded the young woman a “good life partner” and “best mum for her kids.”
