The young mother who was killed execution-style while walking with her baby in New York City has been identified.
On Wednesday evening, a 20-year-old mother was shot dead at point-blank while walking her 3-month-old baby in NYC’s Upper East Side.
According to the investigators, the young lady was approached by a man wearing black pants and a hoodie at the Lexington Avenue and 95th Street intersection before the suspect pointed a gun at her head and fatally shot her “from a very close range.”
The victim has now been identified as 20-year-old Azsia Johnson, a mother-of-one and a dedicated pediatric nurse.
According to Johnson’s mother, Lisa Desort, her daughter’s death comes just months after Azsia was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
The mother alleges the 22-year-old man attacked his ex-girlfriend even though she was six months pregnant with his child at the time.
She further accused the young man of “harassing” and “stalking” her daughter before slamming the authorities for failing to intervene and protect her child despite the family’s pleas for help.
“We called the precinct numerous times to tell the [domestic violence] unit that he was stalking and harrowing her,” Desort said in an interview with The New York Post.
“Even [though] they knew what apartment he lived in, they failed to apprehend and arrest him. The city failed to protect my daughter.”
In another interview with Fox News, the grieving mother added: “All that anyone needs to know in this city is we called numerous times for her protection. No one protected my daughter, and now she’s dead.”
Meanwhile, the NYPD confirmed that a person of interest has been identified as they continue to investigate domestic violence claims.
As of this writing, the gunman remains at large and his identity has yet to be confirmed.
