Mother’s Terminal Cancer Is Discovered During CHILDBIRTH After Doctors Dismissed Her Symptoms For Months

A mother has accused her doctors of negligence after they allegedly dismissed her cancer symptoms for several months.

38-year-old Lois Walker is a mother-of-three from England who discovered she had stage 4 ovarian cancer just moments after doctors spotted tumors during childbirth.

According to the mom, it wasn’t until her C-section that she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer even though she had been complaining about her symptoms to the doctors for months.

Following her childbirth, Walker accused Barnsley Hospital and Dove Valley Practice of negligence saying she had been complaining about her stomach ache for a year before giving birth.

She reportedly also visited the ER several times and made twenty calls to her GP only for medics to dismiss her symptoms saying they were a result of anxiety and “getting old.”

While Lois was overjoyed when her third child cried into this world, the joy didn’t last long as doctors quickly informed her of the tumors they had found on her ovaries during C-section.

Further examination also confirmed the family’s worst fears and revealed that cancer had already spread to other parts of the mother’s body.

Walker has now spoken out and suggested her cancer could be detected much earlier if her GP and the medics at the hospital did their job properly.

“It’s been absolutely diabolical. They call themselves health professionals, and they’re supposed to be giving us care, but that is negligence,” she said.

“I just feel like it could have been caught sooner, so I wouldn’t have this late diagnosis – and I’m leaving three kids.

“If the NHS does not acknowledge that things need to change then I feel sorry for everybody and anybody.”

Walker also recalled the numerous times she called her doctor to complain about her symptoms and the times she visited the ER over stomach aches.

“I was going to the doctors, but I couldn’t tell them anything new because it was the same symptoms always, so they treated me with antacids,” she added.

“Then, I got told it could be health anxiety, so they put me on citalopram. I already suffered from skin cancer, so I said to my doctor, ‘You don’t think I could have cancer?’ And he said, ‘Oh no, it’s just you getting old and bodies don’t work as well.’”

As the mom-of-three says, it was “the final straw” when her doctors decided to involve the mental health team after she said she reached the point where she would have to end her life.

While Walker wants people to know that negligence was responsible for the delay in her diagnosis, she now wants to focus on making memories and making the most of the time she has left.

“It’s been really, really hard. I didn’t want to get attached to him, but he is my ray of sunshine,” she said of her newborn son.

“My kids are my purpose. I want to concentrate on making memories. If love could save me, I would never die.”
