“This is the third time and they weren’t able to revive her. We’re all just devastated,” 29-year-old niece Nnenna B said in an interview with The New York Post.

“We’re all just devastated … [The family is] in shock, grief — everything seems surreal.”

As Nnenna B told the publication shortly after the incident, the doctors didn’t want to give the family false hope due to the severity of Florence’s injuries.

“The doctors are basically saying they don’t want to give us false hope. They came to my uncle and said it’s up to him what he wants to happen now, because we saw what she looked like and we could see for ourselves that things are looking terrible,” she previously said.

“He told the doctor to please keep fighting. My aunt is a very strong woman. She’s a strong lady, strong-willed and strong-hearted person. He said please keep fighting for her until she gives up herself.”

Despite their best efforts, the doctors could not save the mother’s life and stop the bleeding as some of her blood vessels were reportedly “damaged beyond repair.”

“I understand people may panic out of nowhere, but the way he went about it. He hit my cousin’s car first and that’s why my auntie came downstairs, to see what was going on,” Nnenna said of the truck thief.

“So, him trying to get away and him trying to – all of it to me is just so inhumane. I don’t understand it.”
