At around 4 pm on Sunday, 13-year-old Milana Li disappeared from her home near Scholls Ferry Road and Murray Boulevard in Beaverton, Oregon, without a trace.

It wasn’t until 1 pm the following day that the young girl was reported missing by her family.

As the child’s mother told the police at the time of her disappearance, her daughter was a “runaway” who was likely wearing “plaid pajamas with white writing on the side and a dark hooded sweatshirt” at the time of her disappearance.

Following a day of intense searching, the Conestoga Middle School student’s body was discovered in a stream in the Westside Linear Park.

While an autopsy has since confirmed that Milana died of homicide, the police refuse to reveal how she died.

“The circumstances surrounding Li’s death are suspicious. This is an ongoing investigation,” the Beaverton PD previously stated.

The police also insisted they “do not believe there is a continued threat to our community.”

After the grim news of Milana’s passing, a memorial in her honor has been set up at the park where she was found lifeless. Dozens of family members, friends, and classmates have since paid the young girl a tribute.

“We have a couple friends that were her friends that were like really, really depressed and were very sad, so that’s why we came, and we did this for them,” 8-year-old Malikai Johnson said in an interview with KATU 2.

Meanwhile, his mom, Kortnie, vowed to keep a close eye on her son following the incident.

“Like the other day, he said: ‘I’m gonna scooter down to some friends’ houses,’ and as a mom, you hesitate and you’re like: ‘Well, how far? I’m gonna follow you just to make sure.’ And now this happened, and I’m like: ‘Well, now I’m gonna bike ride with you because I’m not comfortable 100% yet,’” she said.

Speaking out was also the mother of Milana’s classmate, Savanna Tinline, who planted lavender near the stream where the teen was found dead.

“Looking at the memorial, the flowers on the hard concrete, I wanted something more permanent and she said: ‘Mom, can we go down there? She really liked purple flowers,’” she told KOIN 6.

“We wanted something that will just stay there for her,” Savanna added.
