Patricia Ann ‘Pat’ Carroll, a comedian, actress, and voice actress who provided the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid, has passed away at the age of 95.
Her grieving daughter Kerry Karsian announced her passing, saying that Carrol died at her Massachusetts home on Saturday.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Emmy-winner was recovering from pneumonia when she died.
Carroll’s other daughter Tara Karsian took to Instagram and wrote that they want everyone to “honor her by having a raucous laugh at absolutely anything today (and everyday forward) because besides her brilliant talent and love, she leaves my sister Kerry and I with the greatest gift of all, imbuing us with humor and the ability to laugh…even in the saddest of times.point 616 |

The Grammy Award winner was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1927. She was 5 when her family moved to Los Angeles.
Her first movie role came in 1948 in Hometown Girl.
Carroll won an Emmy for her role on the comedy show Caesar’s Hour in 1956. She also became a regular on Make Room for Daddy with Danny Thomas and appeared on The DuPont Show with June Allyson.
She also regularly stopped by The Carol Burnett Show, The Danny Kaye Show, and The Red Skelton Show.
In 1965, she played one of the wicked stepsisters in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren.
In 1980, Carroll won a Grammy for recording her one woman show Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein.
She’s also well-known for voicing the sea witch Ursula in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. In interviews, she referred to the role as one of her favorites.
She later reprised the role in other forms of media, including the spinoff television series, the Kingdom Hearts series of video games, the Disney+ series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, and Disney theme park attractions.
Carroll also voiced Ursula’s sister Morgana in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea.
