The 31-year-old musician shot and wounded his former partner after the two got into a drunken quarrel at a 2020 party at Kylie Jenner’s house in Los Angeles.

Now, the young rapper begged the judge for mercy and an “alternative to prison” as he appeared at an LA courtroom for his sentencing.

Despite his plea for mercy and his promise to become a better man and serve his community, Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford.

“Give me some sort of alternative that is not prison. I can be a much better man in my community,” the rapper pleaded before the judge handed out his sentence.

“I’m not standing before you as a celebrity. I stand her as a genuine person who wants a chance. My child needs me – I want to better myself. I want a chance to show the world that the man you see here today is not the real me.

Lanez went on to dismiss “misconceptions” claiming that he is a monster with remorse saying he was wrong for getting drunk and hurting his ex-lover on that 2020 night.

“Everything I did that night I’m take responsibility for. I ask you for the chance to be a better father, a better mentor. I’m asking you not to judge me just on this case, but on the full scope of my life,” he added.

“I do have a habitual disorder – I want to be a better person.”

Taking into account the “aggravating factor” that Megan was defenseless at the time of the shooting, the judge refused to comply with Lanez’s defense team in granting the rapper probation or a prison sentence no longer than three years.
