BREAKING: Four People Shot At Washington DC Juneteenth Music Festival After Gunman Opens Fire


At least four people were shot after gunfire erupted in Washington DC during the Juneteenth celebrations.

On Sunday evening, people gathered at the social justice-inspired Moechella music festival in DC. As the celebration was underway, gunfire erupted at the intersection of 14th and U Street NW and resulted in a stampede.

According to the preliminary reports, four people were shot. One of the victims, a 15-year-old boy, was killed in the shooting.

The other three victims included two adults and a police officer. All three victims are believed to be in a stable condition.

As of this writing, the police are still searching for the gunman.

In shocking photos and videos, revelers could be seen running away from the scene as panic and screaming erupted after the shooting.

The police also revealed they believe the shooting erupted shortly after a number of attendees got into a fight. While the fight was broken up, another incident soon took place and resulted in a shooting.

Following the bloodshed, the police shut down the music festival that was ruled unsafe.

While several guns were seized on the scene – including a firearm belonging to one of the victims – the police have yet to find the gunman’s weapon.

“We certainly want people to be held accountable when they hold un-permitted events in our city,” Metropolitan PD Chief Robert J. Contee III said after the shooting as he suggested the music festival took place illegally.

“Unfortunately, things like this can happen when you have the wrong mix of people or people who introduced firearms to a situation.

“That’s unfortunate and we’ll be having conversations with those persons very, very shortly and look at what legal actions should be taken as the result of an un-permitted event in our city.”
