BREAKING: ‘Law & Order’ And ‘ER’ Star Mary Mara Dies While Swimming In A River For Exercise


ER and Nash Bridges star Mary Mara tragically died while swimming in a river for exercise.

The 61-year-old American actress, who has more than 80 acting credits to her name, was found dead in Cape Vincent, New York, after going for a swim in the St. Lawrence River on Sunday morning.

According to the reports, Mary’s body was discovered after the police received reports of a possible drowning just after 8 am Sunday.

After the woman’s identity was confirmed, a representative revealed that the actress went for a swim in the chilly river while visiting the Thousand Islands’ vacation home belonging to her sister.

“When Troopers, along with Cape Vincent Fire and Ambulance arrived on the scene, they discovered a female deceased in the St. Lawrence River,” the official police statement read.

“The victim has been identified as 61-year-old Mary T. Mara from Cape Vincent, NY. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim drowned while swimming. The victim’s body showed no signs of foul play.”

According to the reports, the official cause of death will be confirmed following an autopsy by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Meanwhile, Mary’s manager, Craig Dorfman, paid the dedicated actress a touching tribute saying: “Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met. She had a terrific sense of humor and a unique outlook on life.

“I still remember the first time that I saw her onstage in Mad Forest in 92. She was utterly captivating, well-loved, and will be missed.”

Mara made her on-screen debut in 1989 when she appeared in The Preppie Murder. She has since played in countless movies including Prom Night, Love Potion No. 9, The Hard Way, True Colors, Blue Steel, Mr. Saturday Night, and Indictment: The McMartin Trial among others.

She was, however, arguably best known for her appearances in TV series including the likes of ER, Nash Bridges, Law & Order, Ray Donovan, Lost, Star Trek: Enterprise, Dexter, and more.
