23-Year-Old Man Shot His Family While They Were Exchanging Christmas Presents, Killing His Grandmother And Father’s Girlfriend


A 23-year-old man from California has been arrested and charged after he opened fire on his family while they were exchanging Christmas presents.

Austin Alvarez from California shot and killed both his grandmother, Magdalena Alvarez, and his dad’s girlfriend, Meisha Rashid, before he left their family home in the 17000 block of Goodfellow Avenue.

He is now facing murder and attempted murder charges. The move is still not clear.

Police from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the scene at around 1:45 on Friday and found the two women with gunshot wounds.

According to reports, Alvarez also tried to shoot his father after he saw him sitting inside a vehicle but failed to hit him.

A news bulletin was immediately displayed to locate the 23-year-old after he drove a pickup truck to leave the scene.

The California Highway Patrol and local departments from Kingsburg, Orange Cove, Sanger, and Reedley combined forces to search for Alvarez.

Cops managed to track him down and capture him ten miles from his home.

He was booked into Fresno County Jail and faces one charge of attempted murder and two charges of murder, with bond set at $2.5 million.

One person commented: “These are people who just can’t make it in society and really are not bothered by the prospect of spending the remainder of their life in a prison cell.”

A third said: “I know every family has its dysfunction, drama and bad relationships. But my God. Who would open fire on their own family?”
