67-Year-Old Business Owner Arrested After Four Friends Are Killed, Dismembered, And Dumped In A River


A businessman driving a stolen vehicle has been arrested as a person of interest in a quadruple murder investigation.

On Monday, the authorities arrested 67-year-old scrapyard owner Joe Kennedy in connection to the murders of four friends including Alex Stevens, 29, Mike Sparks, 32, Billy Chastain, 30, and Mark Chastain, 32.

According to the police, Kennedy was caught driving a stolen vehicle in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, shortly after the authorities recovered the bodies of four friends from Deep Fork River in Oklahoma.

Preliminary investigation has confirmed that all four friends were shot dead and dismembered before their bodies were dumped into the water shortly after they left Billy’s home together on bikes.

The police also confirmed that the victims were planning “some kind of criminal act” before they were killed and disposed of.

Kennedy has since been named as a person of interest. While he initially cooperated with the police, he went missing on Saturday.

The business owner was found and arrested on Monday after driving to Florida in a stolen vehicle.

As of this writing, Kennedy hasn’t been charged in connection with the four murders. The police reportedly haven’t yet found any evidence linking the 67-year-old to the quadruple murder case.

“The murder investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to follow leads every day. Additional information will be relayed when it is available,” Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice said.

Prentice added: “All four bodies were dismembered before being placed in the river and that is what caused the difficulty in determining identity. The river appears to be a dump site. Whenever water is involved it makes it much more difficult to identify evidence.

“The family members were upset. I think they had already resolved themselves that this was their loved ones, but the additional information about dismemberment was obviously a shock, they were very distraught.”

Kennedy is currently on probation after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon back in 2012.

As he told the police at the time, he caught six alleged thieves at his scrapyard before shooting one of them while the others fled.
