Lisa Marie Presley had been rushed to a hospital following a suspected cardiac arrest but she was pronounced dead only hours later.
Her ex-husband has shared a heartbreaking statement after she passed away on January 12 at the age of 54.
According to TMZ, Lisa Marie was found unresponsive by her ex-husband Danny Keough, who also resided at the property.
Following her death, her devastated mother Priscilla Presley shared a statement via BBC: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.
“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.”
Lisa Marie was also known for her high-profile marriages. She first married Danny Keough, then Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, and finally Michael Lockwood.
Lisa Marie and Michael tied the knot in 2006. They share twin daughters Finley and Harper, 14. But after ten years of marriage, they divorced and was embroiled in a bitter custody battle.
Representing Michael, attorney Joe Yanny said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight after the singer’s death: “Michael had been hoping for a speedy and complete recovery because her children needed her. It is very sad it didn’t turn out that way.
“Michael’s world has been turned on its ear. He is with both of his daughters now.”
Lisa Marie also shared two children with Danny, a son named Benjamin and a daughter named Riley, 33.
In 2020, Benjamin took his own life at the age of 27.
The devastated mother wrote about the grief that followed in a piece for PEOPLE magazine.
“I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of nine years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far,” she wrote.
“But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son? The sweetest and most incredible being that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every single day to be his mother? Who was so much like his grandfather on so many levels that he actually scared me? Which made me worry about him even more than I naturally would have? No.point 420 |
