While driving through Hollywood looking for French bulldogs to steal, Jackson and his accomplices came across the three dogs who were being walked by Ryan Fischer, the pop star’s personal dog walker.

During the encounter, Jackson pulled out a gun and shot Fischer who barely survived the traumatizing incident after the thieves left him bleeding from his chest.

Two days after the shooting, a woman called the police and claimed she found Lady Gaga’s dogs tied to a post. She also inquired about the singer’s promised $500,000 reward before she was arrested over her collaboration with the dognappers.

Following the drama in Hollywood, the shooter was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He had since pleaded no contest and was now sentenced to 21 years in prison after accepting a plea deal.

“The plea agreement holds Mr. Jackson accountable for perpetrating a coldhearted violent act and provides justice for our victim,” the DA’s office stated on Monday.

As for Fischer, he started a long and grueling recovery journey after suffering a collapsed lung and losing parts of the organ in the shooting.

Back in September 2021, seven months after the shooting, the dog walker sat down with CBS Mornings’ co-host Gayle King and opened up about the aftermath of the shooting.

“Some days are great, some weeks are not. And that’s been the big up and down the last couple of months,” he said at the time.

Recalling the time he was ambushed and shot, he added: “I was scared, I was in pain. I had a feeling, when they came up [and] pulled the gun on me that I was going to end up being shot, cause in my mind I was like, ‘There’s no way that I’m not going to fight for these dogs.’”

Fischer also revealed that Lady Gaga had been supporting him both financially and emotionally in the months following his ordeal.
