It was in February when Pickler and her personal assistant were unable to open the couple’s Nashville home. When she could not find her husband, she decided to call the emergency services.

Nashville Police Department said in a statement at that time: “Officers and Nashville Fire Department personnel responded and located resident Kyle Jacobs, 49, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office.”

The statement added: “His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.”

An autopsy report has now confirmed that the songwriter died by suicide.

Toxicology reports showed that Jacobs had no drugs in his system when he passed away but it noted that he had a history of ‘pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.’

It has also been confirmed that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Pickler and Jacobs, who got married in the Caribbean in 2011, starred in the reality TV series I Love Kellie Pickler, which documented their private and professional lives.

In a 2017 interview with Yahoo’s BUILD Series, Jacobs said: “We just do everything we can just to be real. We love laughing through life. We love to do that, and that’s what the show is. Our show is love and laughter.”

More than five years after they got married, Pickler gained popularity on American Idol.

“There’s always stresses in life…and I think if you (and), especially with your significant other, can laugh at a lot of it and laugh through it, then you’re in a good spot,” Jacobs continued.

Speaking to E! News last year, Pickler said she does not see herself as a celebrity as she prefers a quiet life with her husband.

“I clock in and I do my job and then I come home and I’m a wife,” she expressed.

“I hate the word celebrity. It dehumanizes people. I clock out of that world as quick as possible and I keep my feet on solid ground in the real world. I even have healthy boundaries with people that are in the business.”
