A 28-year-old man tragically passed away after he chose to jump a turnstile located at a subway station in Queens.
According to local media reports, the man immediately died when he jumped the turnstile on Sunday and broke his neck along the way. In the end, he landed on the hard cement floor and that cracked his head, resulting in his tragic death.
The news sent shockwaves around the subway station as many gathered around the heartbreaking incident, as revealed by the cops.
Authorities claim the man tried to evade the fare at the station and hence chose to jump above the turnstile instead of passing through it as normal people do. But the mistake was a deadly one that took away his life in an instant.
The exact location of the incident was identified as the Forest Hills- 71st Avenue train station. Moreover, the incident is believed to have taken place at around 6:45 am and that’s when he hopped the turnstile, revealed another police spokesperson.
“He just came crashing down on his head and brutally hit the station’s cement floor. He broke his neck,” the source commented. Police claim the victim was pronounced dead on the scene and there was just nothing that anyone could do to prevent this unfortunate tragedy.
The victim’s identity is yet to be released by the cops as investigations into the horrifying incident continue.
This freak incident comes in the first few days of 2022 after the Big Apple suffered a year full of violence. Many citizens are still skeptical about change and don’t seem too hopeful about the new year.
Just recently, footage released by the NYPD showed a robbery taking place in Mott Haven where a thief managed to drag down an elderly woman by her cane and then even stole her bag, before escaping with ease.
