’16 and Pregnant’ star Jordan Cashmyer was found dead only months after her fiancé Michael Frank Schaffer passed away.
The death of the 26-year-old was confirmed by her father, Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr, who took to Facebook and wrote a heartbreaking post.
Sharing a black and white photo of his daughter, he wrote: “Last night I received a call no parent ever wants. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child. EVER.”
It was in 2014 when Jordan appeared on the MTV reality series along with her daughter Genevieve ‘Evie’ Shae Taylor.
During her time on the series, crews documented her struggles after she got pregnant while dating her ex-boyfriend Derek Taylor.
They became homeless after her parents kicked them out of their home as Taylor refused to find a job to support Cashmyer and their child.
The couple broke up after their baby was born and the mother revealed that she suffered from postpartum depression.
In November 2014, Cashmyer took to Facebook and said that ‘there wasn’t much of a reason to live anymore.’
“I have been struggling with a lot of different things emotionally since I had Genevieve,” she wrote.
“I was diagnosed with post partum depression and was on medication for a little while for it, but I never followed up with my appointment… My mood wouldn’t stay stable for very long, I was extremely impulsive, couldn’t focus, the smallest things would set me off, and my anxiety got worse, as did my depression and OCD.”
In 2016, she admitted herself to a rehab facility after she got herself injured, according to TMZ. A source claimed that the incident left her with a black eye and a concussion and made her realize that it was time to ‘get her life together.’
Last January, Cashmyer celebrated one-year of sobriety. She also welcomed her second child Lyla with Schaffer.
Sadly, her efforts at pulling herself together got interrupted when her fiancé passed away.
