Johnny Depp’s defamation trial has taken another shocking twist as his text messages about Amber Heard were read out in court.
During the cross-examination by Amber Heard’s attorney Benjamin Rottenborn, Depp was asked about his friendship with Paul Bettany, a British actor, as Rottenborn read out their old texts.
One of the texts dated back to June 11, 2013 – nearly two years before Depp and Heard tied the knot.
In his text to Bettany, Depp wrote: “Let’s burn Amber!!!”
After reading the text aloud, Rottenborn added: “You didn’t stop. The next text down says: ‘Let’s drown her before we burn her!!!’ I read that right?”
Depp replied with a “yes.”
Heard’s lawyer then apologized to the court before proceeding to read out Johnny’s other expletive text which read: “I will f**k her burnt corpse afterward to make sure she is dead.”
Rottenborn added: “Did I read that right? You wrote that about the woman who would later become your wife.”
During the cross-examination, Rottenborn also read a text that Depp sent back in May 2014, a week after the flight to Los Angeles during which the actor was drunk and abusive according to Heard.
“I’m gonna properly stop the booze thing darling. Drank all night before I picked Amber up to fly to LA. Ugly mate. No food for days. Powders, half a bottle whiskey, thousand red bulls, pills, two bottles of Champers on plane and what do you get,” Depp told Bettany.
He added: “An angry, aggro Injun in a fu**in’ blackout, screaming obscenities and insulting any f*** who got near…
“I’m done. I’m admittedly too fu**ed in the head to spray my rage at the one I love… for little reason, as well, I’m too old to be that guy but pills are fine.”
Court also heard of Depp’s other texts to undisclosed recipients in which he branded Heard as an “idiot cow” and a “worthless hooker” and threatened to smack her.
