According to local media reports, the jail sentences given to Emma Tustin and Thomas Hughes who killed young Arthur Labinjo-Hughes are now being sent over to the Court of Appeal. The reason is that they are ‘too lenient.’

The latest development in the high-profile case that shocked the world was recently announced by Attorney General Suella Braveman.

Arthur passed away in the most tragic manner after he was beaten as well as tortured through the hands of his own stepmom named Emma Tustin at her residence, located in Solihull.

The incident led to a national outpour of shock, anger, and grief as many ministers came forward and vowed to take action, right after the stepmom was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum jail term lasting 29 years. On the other hand, Arthur’s father received a jail sentence of 21 years after being charged with manslaughter.

Evidence emerged in the courtroom which spoke about how Arthur was visited by social workers at his residence during the national lockdown, just a few months before his death took place. And that raised many eyebrows as the social workers failed to see so many alarming signs such as the way his body was covered with bruises.

Instead, they declared the case as clear and closed the chapter, sparking outrage as many felt that if they had properly carried out an investigation at that time, little Arthur would have been alive today.

“They concluded that there were no safeguarding concerns and chose to close the file instead of digging down deep and seeing what the matter was all about,” explained Arthur’s grieving grandfather.
