BREAKING: Highland Park Shooter Is Indicted On 117 Counts


The suspected Highland Park mass shooter has been indicted on 117 counts and is facing life in prison if found guilty of his felony charges.

Robert ‘Bobby’ E. Crimo III appeared in Illinois court on Wednesday after opening fire on the crowd gathered to see the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park and killing seven people in the process.

According to the investigators, the 21-year-old used a rifle he had legally purchased with the help of his father to kill 7 people and injure 40 more before disguising himself as a woman and blending into the crowd as part of his escape plan.

Now, the young man has been charged with a total of 117 counts including 21 counts of first-degree murder – three counts for each of the slain victims.

Crimo was further charged with 48 counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and 48 counts of attempted murder – one count for each of the injured victims.

Following his indictment, the mass murder suspect is set to appear in court on August 3.

“I want to thank law enforcement and the prosecutors who presented evidence to the grand jury today,” Illinois State Attorney Eric Rinehart said in a statement after the indictment.

“Our investigation continues, and our victim specialists are working around the clock to support all those affected by this crime that led to 117 felony counts being filed today.”

The indictment comes as investigators still struggle to understand the motives that led Crimo to commit such an atrocity.

According to Chris Covelli, the Deputy Chief of Lake County Major Crime Task Force, the suspect’s “motivation isn’t necessarily clear.”

“I don’t want to go into specifically what he told investigators; however, he had some type of affinity towards the number 4 and 7, and inverse 7 and 4,” the chief explained.
