An iconic vocalist and guitarist has passed away at the age of 71 after suffering medical complications amid his battle with cancer.
Tim Bachman was a Canadian musician best known for his work with the rock bands Bachman–Turner Overdrive and Brave Belt.
The guitarist initially played in BTO in 1973 and 1974 before reuniting with the band a decade later and selling millions of records.
Some of the beloved band’s most popular hits include Takin’ Care Of Business, Hey You, and Roll On Down The Highway.
Bachman died at the age of 71 after suffering complications during his battle with cancer, his family now confirmed.
“My Dad passed this afternoon. Thank You Everyone for the kind words,” son Paxton announced in a statement.
“Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end. Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have.”
Recalling the final moments he had spent with his father, Paxton continued: “I sat with Dad yesterday afternoon and reminisced about some of the good times we had.
“He was pretty out of it most of the time, but at one point looked up at me with really, big wide eyes and said, ‘I love you Paxton, keep sharing the music…’ and then passed back out.
“It’s really hard watching your parent lay in bed helpless and sick and there’s nothing you can do to help them. Breaking my heart. Thankful for the time we got to spend together.”
Along with his heartfelt tribute, Paxton also shared a photo from his childhood showing him and his father enjoying a hike.
The sad news comes just three months after Tim’s brother, Bachman-Turner Overdrive co-founder Robbie Bachman, passed away at the age of 69.
