BREAKING: Gone With The Wind Star Mickey Kuhn Dies After Short Illness


Gone With The Wind actor Mickey Kuhn has passed away at the age of 90 after a short illness.

The actor, who added 32 acting credits to his name during the Golden Age of Hollywood, was just six years old when he landed his role as Beau Wilkes in the classic romance Gone With the Wind.

He was also cast in many other classic hits such as the likes of Juarez, Broken Arrow, Red River, A Streetcar Named Desire, Dick Tracy, Scene of the Crime, The Searching Wind, I Want a Divorce, and more.

Kuhn died in hospice care in Naples, Florida, his wife Barbara confirmed according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was the last surviving cast member of Gone With the Wind.

The Classic Hollywood legend landed his first role on the screen when he was just two years old when he appeared in the Janet Gaynor film Change of Heart as an adopted baby.

“Of course I don’t remember this day, but my mother and I were in Sears-Roebuck on Santa Monica and Western when a lady stopped my mother and said that Fox Studio was looking for twin babies for a movie they were shooting,” Kuhn previously said as he explained how his acting career kicked off.

“She had a baby girl that looked a lot like me and thought we could be cast. Well, we went over there, and I, but not the lady’s baby, was cast.”

In an interview with the Films of the Golden Age, Kuhn also recalled the time he was overcome with emotion while waiting to find out if he’d been cast in Gone With the Wind when he was just six years old.

“I started crying and wanted to leave, but Mom said to go up and give my name to the lady at the desk. If in 10 minutes I hadn’t been called, then we would leave,” he said.

“I went to the lady and said, ‘I’m Mickey Kuhn.’ She said, ‘Mickey, we’ve been waiting for you.’ And then to the others waiting, ‘Thank you, we’ve cast the part. You may all leave.’”

After his decades-long acting career, Kuhn started working in American Airlines management and went on to hold various administrative positions before his retirement in 1995.
