On Tuesday, a twister with winds reaching the speed of 165 mph hit the town of Salado in Texas and destroyed everything in its path, including the mobile home of 6-year-old Miriam Rios and her family.

According to the family’s devastated relatives, Miriam, her parents Joel and Vanessa, and her 1-year-old sibling Ezra were all sent flying in different directions when the tornado hit their home.

One-year-old Ezra didn’t suffer major injuries and is set to be discharged from the hospital soon.

Following the Tuesday incident, Miriam’s uncle, Stephen Perez, spoke out to KWTX and revealed there is nothing left of the family’s home.

“Their mom remembers waking up, rolling over on her side, and seeing her daughter in a tree and she can’t get up or do anything. She just rolled over and cried,” Perez said.

Speaking of the family’s mobile home, he added: “It’s just the foundation that’s left. There’s absolutely nothing. And (my sister) was really proud about that home.”

Meanwhile, Perez and the relatives launched a fundraiser to help the family collect enough money to purchase a new home.

“With the family being in the home, while the tornado taking away everything they’ve worked so desperately hard for; they manage to hang on to each other,” Perez expressed on GoFundMe.

“Our goal is to raise 80,000 dollars to help rebuild their home and put them back on their feet. And to give them the hope and motivation to keep on fighting.”

Our thoughts remain with the Rios family during these challenging times.
