A 6-year-old girl managed to escape from a man who touched her and tried to kidnap her right outside her home in Ohio.
According to reports, Ken’Adi Nash from Hamilton was taking the garbage out when 33-year-old Deric McPherson touched her and tried to abduct her.
Speaking to Good Morning America, the young girl recalled the horrifying moment and said: “This guy walked by and he touched me and pulled me. He just let go of me because I screamed.”
Ken’Adi then ran inside their house and told her parents that a man tried to pull her away and that he had touched her.
McPherson has been arrested and charged with gross s*xual imposition and abduction.
The girl’s parents said they have always taught their children how to defend themselves from an attacker but they also hoped that their teachings won’t be needed.
“She did (listen to us), and she used it,” her mother Mandie said to GMA.
“I’m so proud of her, because as soon as she screamed, he let go. So obviously, it does work,” Mandie added.
She said that she was arranging groceries inside the house when the incident happened. Her husband Ricky then took off at McPherson in his vehicle and called 911.
“I chased after him like he still had my kid. (I) definitely didn’t want him to go snatch another kid,” he said.
Rickly told WLWT that McPherson tried to “dip in and out of alleys and through people’s yards to get away from me.”
The Nash family won’t forget what happened, with Mandie saying: “It’s forever etched in our minds – that scream. So it’ll always be with us.”
According to her Facebook page, the family is trying to move away from the area as Ken’Adi “desperately wants to move out of this house/neighborhood).”
