11-year-old Cha’Kyra Thomas from Detroit, Michigan, suffered brain trauma and required stitches on her head after getting struck by a substitute PE teacher at Hope Academy.

According to the reports, the gym teacher, who has been identified as Jacqueline Brown, threw a metal hockey stick through the air after getting upset with another student.

“She was yelling and doing some cussing. The next thing I know I feel something hard on the side of my head,” the child recalled.

The family’s attorney, Jon Marko, also blasted the Hope Academy teacher who maintained that she struck Cha’Kyra by accident while trying to attack another student.

“Her excuse was she was trying to throw the hockey stick at another kid, and hit her by accident,” Marko said.

The attorney also slammed the school’s response to the assault on one of their students.

“When the mother of this little girl gets to the school, and is wondering, ‘where is my daughter,’ they couldn’t even find her,” he added.

“She was found wandering the hallways confused with blood running down her face.”

Though Brown has already been found guilty of her charges and sentenced, she allegedly never apologized to the victim in person.

“What kind of a teacher throws a hockey stick at a fifth-grader’s head? I mean you obviously have to have something wrong with your head,” Marko continued.
