BREAKING: At Least 44 People Missing And Hundreds Of Homes Destroyed After Torrential Flooding In Virginia


A state of emergency has been declared in Virginia after torrential flooding left dozens of people missing and hundreds of homes destroyed.

Late Tuesday downpour in Virginia has resulted in rising waters and flooding in several regions of the state.

As early reports suggest, more than one hundred homes were destroyed or damaged in the flooding.

Furthermore, at least 44 people were unaccounted for as of Wednesday when Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin declared a state of emergency.

According to the authorities, the floods in certain areas are the worst they’ve seen in several decades.

“I want Virginians in Buchanan County to know that we are making every resource available to help those impacted by this storm,” Gov. Youngkin said.

“As we continue to assess the situation, I want to thank our first responders and the personnel on the ground for providing assistance with our ongoing operations.”

Assuring the residents of hard-hit areas – such as Buchanan County – that help is on the way, Youngkin added: “I am deeply saddened at the devastating news of flooding in Buchanan County. We are making every resource available to help those impacted.

“While rescue and recovery operations continue, please join me in prayer as we lift up our fellow Virginians impacted by this tragedy.”

Following the torrential rainstorm and flooding, rescue and clean-up crews have been deployed to affected areas.

As of this writing, the number of damaged or destroyed homes remains unclear, but officials believe it is “significant.” According to the rescuers, some homes have been ripped from their foundations and washed hundreds of yards away from their original location.

Destroyed in the flooding were also countless vehicles, roads, and even some bridges.
