The heartbreaking final words of a father from Virginia have been revealed after he reportedly vanished in the recent blizzard while trying to walk back home.
34-year-old Jacob Whaley’s body was located by authorities about 200 yards away from where he informed his family about his current location.
The exact location was identified as Virginia’s Greene Corner Road on Thursday.
Meanwhile, more heartbreaking details regarding his vehicle were discovered at about 8:30 on Monday, right after it reportedly slid into a giant ditch. For that reason, he was left with no choice but to walk back home for nearly six miles, just so he could be reunited with his two-year-old son.
Investigators claim that he sent out the final text message to his mother, mentioning how he was lost. He even requested his family members to contact authorities, who later sent out a large search team to locate his whereabouts, right after he passed away.
While the team was unable to locate him, they did spend a total of four days in the massive search operation that concluded on Thursday, which is when they found his dead remains.
But now, the family claims that the state authorities failed to play their part in the incident and just didn’t do enough to locate him. For this reason, they began to protest right outside the Louisa County Sheriff’s department on Saturday.
Authorities claim that the drastic snow conditions and icy roads forced the father to trek his way through the woods and that’s where he got lost.
Loved ones are mourning the loss of a 34-year-old dad who many deemed to be a great family man with a big heart.
