While clearing the debris left behind by a twister last Friday, the young man was hit by a falling tree branch in the back of his head.

Unfortunately, the father of four could not be saved, and he passed away later that day.

Jesse’s wife, Hope, has since spoken out and revealed that her husband’s children were left devastated by the incident.

She also shared the last photo of her beloved man in which he is seen grinning while FaceTiming with his youngest daughter from his workplace to help her sleep.

“River isn’t used to not having her daddy home for bed time. Of course she has to sleep in one of his shirts for bed tonight so they can match,” Hope said.

“Thank you for working so hard babe and for being so selfless.”

After the tragic news had spread throughout the community, Jesse’s family released a statement in which they recalled the lineman as an “amazing father” and a “husband who led his family to Relevant Church in Locust Grove every Sunday.”

“If he wasn’t coaching their softball games, he was always in the stands supporting his children,” the tribute read. “From throwing the ball in the yard, to doing art at the kitchen table, Jesse was there.”

It continued: “Jesse is best known for his bad jokes and always making people laugh. He loved his job and had a passion for helping people.”

The family also launched a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise enough funds to cover funeral costs and give the dedicated man the sendoff he deserves.
