David Venables, now 89, reportedly killed his wife Brenda, then 48, at their Worcestershire home in May 1982 so he could have an affair with another woman.

Brenda’s disappearance was originally treated as a missing person inquiry as the tank was never searched.

But when Andrey Venebles bought the farm from his uncle, the victim’s skull and bones were discovered after he drained a cesspit in 2019.

High Court Judge Mrs. Justice Tipples said Venebles took advantage of his wife’s depression and created a ‘carefully thought-out story’ that she had left home in the middle of the night.

“You killed Brenda Venables in her own home, where she was recuperating with an injured leg and suffering from depression. You were Brenda’s husband and she should have been able to trust you,” she told the 89-year-old.

“Your complete lack of respect for Brenda is obvious from your decision to dispose of her body in the septic tank,” the judge continued.

“The fact that is what you did with her body is disgusting and repulsive.”

According to reports, Venebles had started a series of affairs throughout their marriage and he “wanted his wife out the way” so he could continue his relationship with another woman named Lorraine Styles.

One former farm hand claimed: “It was all a long time ago, but those of us who were around back then remember David well. He was a ladies man and clearly wasn’t the sort of guy who was happy settling for just the one lady.

“Poor Brenda had her problems. She was an old-fashioned housewife-type and desperately wanted children. For whatever reason, it didn’t happen for them. I think it ruined their marriage and led to David playing away from home.

“Everyone knew about Lorraine, they’d been at it for years. But honestly, she wasn’t the only one. It was different times back then, men thought they could have any woman they wanted, even if they were married.”
