The family of the grieving man whose wife was killed on their wedding night has spoken out and thanked the people for their support.
Aric Hutchinson and wife Samantha were driving through Folly Beach, California, when 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski plowed into their golf cart while driving 65 mph in a 25-mph zone while under the influence of alcohol.
While Aric survived the ordeal and is now recovering from his injuries at home, the grieving man is forced to plan his wife’s funeral after she succumbed to her injuries.
A GoFundMe page for Sam and Aric has since reached over $700,000, and Aric’s family has spoken out to thank their supporters for helping them during this challenging time.
“From accident, Aric received multiple injuries including two broken legs, one which had to be surgically repaired. Broken bones in his face which also had to be surgically repaired. Broken vertebrae’s in his back, brain bleeds, and numerous cuts with stitches,” Annette, Aric’s mom, said.
“He is physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife. Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family.”
She went on to thank everyone who helped save her son’s life saying: “We wish to thank everyone who has given us hope through thoughtful words of encouragement and generous donations […] Our hearts go out to the first on the scene, first responders, the police, and all the staff at MUSC hospital, we are forever changed by the love we have received.
”
The update from the family comes after Komoroski was arrested and charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm or death.
The suspect currently remains on suicide watch and is being held without bond. She is set to appear in court in June.
