BREAKING: 15 Family Members Die After Eating ‘Toxic Porridge’


Fifteen family members and relatives died in agony after eating toxic porridge.

The shocking food poisoning case takes place in Namibia where more than a dozen people died from eating porridge that is believed to have turned toxic after being mixed with sediment from homemade beer.

Announcing the deaths was the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation which revealed that several more people remain in critical condition after eating contaminated porridge.

The incident occurred on May 27 in the village of Kayova which lies in Namibia’s Kavango East region.

“So far this is the biggest number of deaths suspected to be from the ingestion of possible toxic material,” police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi revealed.

Confirming the incident was also the country’s Ministry of Health and Social Services. In an early statement, they wrote:

“The affected seventeen members of the household presented at Nyangana District Hopsital, Kavango East on 27 May, 2023, with signs and symptoms of food poisoning. Due to their critical illness, thirteen people were referred to Rundu Intermediate Hospital.

“Unfortunately nine persons demised. Two of them passed away at Nyangana District Hospital and seven at Rundu Intermediate Hospital.

“At the time of this Press Release, eight people remain hospitalized. Six at Rundu Intermediate Hospital, of whom five are reported to be in critical condition; and two at Nyangana District Hospital, in a stable condition.”

Since the health ministry’s initial announcement, it has been confirmed that six more people who were being treated for food poisoning have passed away. Two or three currently remain in critical condition and are fighting for their lives.

As of this writing, an investigation into the deaths remains ongoing.

The authorities currently believe that the family’s porridge turned toxic after the flour was mixed with fermented sediment from homemade beer.
