But despite all of this, she was told to relax and have a few sips of wine as it was all in her head and there was nothing wrong with her.

Deep down inside, the mother knew that something just was not quite right. Therefore, she opted to take on more opinions from GPs and underwent a series of tests. And that’s when her biggest nightmare came true.

Ashlee Barnes was reportedly only 24 years old when she visited the GP. They assumed due to her young age, it was all psychological and there was nothing wrong with her.

Sadly, that was far from the reality of the matter. “I was told was too young to have cancer and they told me to relax”- she went on to mention.

Soon, she realized that there happened to be a 5.8-centimeter-long tumor stuck in her cervix. For years, she visited so many doctors and it was all in vain.

She kept on getting dismissed as fit and healthy and this whole time, the tumor continue to grow in size. There was even one point in time when they put her on antibiotics as they felt she may have an infection.

Her symptoms included frequent urinary tract infections, heavy bleeding, and a lot of pelvic pain. But she went through that misery for two whole years. And despite having so many family and friends by her side, she claims to have felt so alone at that time.

She barely had the energy and strength to do anything but now, she’s carrying on with her treatment and hoping to raise awareness for other young women in this world.
