A grandfather is revealing his embarrassment and shock after being denied access to a bar because he was too old.
According to local media outlets, the grandad was identified as 76-year-old Anthony Sever who hails from Liverpool. He says that going off to get a drink was just a part of his plan at the Irish Bar located in McCooley’s.
However, little did he realize that his plan would backfire as he was refused entry into the bar.
The exact location of the bar was such that it was renowned for being popular with the younger generation. Therefore, seeing a man of his age was just not something that many people were accustomed to, especially the bouncers. And on that note, they found it okay to deny him entry into the location.
“It was just awfully shocking and embarrassing for me. I just couldn’t believe it. They told me I was too old. Who does that?”- the grandad exclaimed.
It was not the staff that really had an issue with the age but the security guards who felt that such a location was not where a man his age should be. And as you can imagine, people began to stare in awe as the duo started to argue.
Ever since the story has gone viral, the spokesperson for the pub is making sure to clear his name and his bar’s name by claiming that the issue was nothing related to age. He added that there was another factor that was the reason why he had been denied entry. But interestingly, he refuses to name that factor.
