Terrifying and tragic reports have gone on to speak about a 4-year-old child who was reportedly killed on the spot after a massive concrete post collapsed on top of him.
The child had just returned from football practice and happened to be playing with his friend when the disaster struck. But little did anyone know what was in store for him and how his life would end in a matter of seconds.
The four-year-old was killed just weeks after he started school when a heavy garden post collapsed right on top of his head, an inquest heard.
Little Leopold Mercer happened to be swinging on an iron gate in his garden with a friend. This was after their training session was complete. At that point in time, the tragedy ensued at their residence in Hanbury in Worcestershire.
Both of his parents happened to be professors at the university named Eva Frickel and Jason Mercer. They heard one of their other kids scream in the loudest of tones.
And that’s when they knew instantly that something was up. Hence, the couple went to see what had happened and to their dismay, the child was on the ground, in an unconscious state.
Both the parents decided to perform CPR on him but it was just too late. Nothing that they were doing could bring him back to life. They continued to scream the word LEO but it was in vain.
All of these heartbreaking and tragic details were revealed at the Coroner’s Court today. And it just made the couple relive that horrifying ordeal all over again.
Despite the paramedics intervening, they got no response and the child was soon declared dead.
