Two People Are Dead With Woman And A Baby Fighting For Their Life In A Hospital After HGV Collision

Paramedics rapidly responded in a collision between a black Mazda and an HGV leaving a 1-year-old baby in critical condition.

The incident happened near Idyllic Cotswolds Village, Andoversford on January 18, 2022. Emergency services were called to a stretch of the A436 road following reports of a crash between a Mazda and an HGV.

Despite all the efforts of the paramedics, two casualties have been reported following the collision at 11:15 am. The driver of the black Mazda, a 31-year-old man died at the scene. A 21-year-old woman also died while being treated in hospital.

Three other passengers in the car including a 1-year-old baby have already been rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

The baby and a 29-year-old woman remain in critical condition and are still monitored by hospital staff. The lorry driver, a 24-year-old man has since been discharged and suffered minor injuries.

The authorities who are investigating the incident are now calling for anyone who has information about the tragic crash or anyone who has information to come forward urgently.

Police said that the Mazda had been traveling from Andoversford to Seven Springs, while the HGV was being driven in the opposite direction. They added that all of the passengers of the car live in Bedfordshire.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said: “Officers would like to hear from anyone who has not already been spoken to and may have witnessed what happened. They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the collision.”

“Officers wish to extend their thanks to members of the public who provided assistance at the scene, as well as to colleagues from the fire and ambulance services.”

“The families of those involved are being supported by specially trained officers,” they added.

Police confirmed road closures were put into place on the road as emergency services dealt with the incident. However, the road closures have since been lifted.
