Thousands of couples hailing from Australia are now thinking twice about having children, confirmed a new report.
This not only has to do with fears of climate change but is also the effect of rising living costs, generalized inflation, and a spike in interest rates too.
Therefore, couples are now shedding light on how they’ve been forced to make some decisions that they never imagined.
The news we’re getting is all thanks to a recent survey that had been conducted in Australia by a leading climate change organization. They surveyed thousands of people, with their target being Australian women.
The research report clearly had some alarming findings and those were related to a third of the population having no interest in expanding their families because of the difficulties that they’re now facing in their daily lives.
Couples have mentioned how they are trying their best to make it past the end of the month and having kids would just make their lives and the kids’ lives miserable.
“There’s a lot of thinking and planning that needs to be done. We’re living in a world where basic necessities are deemed to be luxuries and it only makes sense as to why so many couples have been forced to behave in this way”- stated one of the respondents involved in the survey.
Others spoke about how the situation is the same for all parts of the world so it’s not something that only Australians are forced to think about.
There were so many couples who also elaborated in detail about how they fear their kids could face an unpredictable and unsafe future, thanks to the ongoing climate change crisis. Hence, they feel it’s best to not contribute to worldwide overpopulation and make wise decisions.
