German actor Christian Oliver died in a tragic plane crash that also took the lives of his two young daughters.
The 51-year-old actor, who was best known for his roles in Cobra 11, Speed Racer, and the latest Indiana Jones installment, had been working in the US for three decades after leaving his native Germany.
It was now confirmed that the actor and his two young daughters, Madita and Annik, died along with pilot Robert Sachs after their plane nose dove and crashed into the sea off the Caribbean island of Bequia on Thursday.
According to the reports, the group was on their way to St. Lucia when the plane ran into unspecified trouble causing it to plunge into the sea.
Following the crash, the local fishermen and swimmers in the area helped the authorities with the search.
The official cause of death will be confirmed after the victims undergo a postmortem examination.
After the tragic news, tributes to the father and his daughters began pouring in with Los Angeles-based director Nick Lyon remembering his producing partner as a great friend and actor.
“We talked about producing a film together for years and finally did it! Thank you for being a great colleague, actor and friend,” he said.
Paying her respects was also Oliver’s co-star Bai Ling who shared: “It was our first and last film together, I loved working with him so much. He was so nice, works so hard and such a brave actor and a beautiful gentle person, we played lovers in this film, just so so so sad.”
The deadly crash currently remains under investigation.
