Shocking reports coming in from a chess tournament in Russia are going on to speak about a horrifying incident involving a seven-year-old player who witnessed a real-life nightmare while playing his favorite pastime.
According to sources from local media outlets, a chess-playing robot is believed to have broken a child opponent’s finger during a match for the ongoing tournament. And as you can probably imagine, audiences were left stunned, furious, and in a state of complete disbelief as they saw the horror unfold in front of their eyes.
The victim was stated to have been involved in a busy and competitive faceoff against the robotic player when all of a sudden, the robot mistakenly grabbed a hold of the 7-year-old child’s finger and broke his finger.
The exact location of the incident was desired as the Moscow Open and it is believed to have taken place last week as reported by media outlets in Russia.
Speaking to TASS on Thursday, the head of the Moscow Chess Federation mentioned how the robot broke the child’s finger and it was indeed a very shocking and bad thing to have happened.
It is believed the young player made his next move on the chess board and waited for the robot player to play his turn.
“All of a sudden, a huge robotic arm came forward that had been powered using artificial intelligence.
It took some time to calculate and plan its move and then all of a sudden, we see it grabbing a hold of the child’s finger. He mistook it for a chess piece and left him severely injured”- the Moscow Chess Federation head explained.
The head of the Russian Chess Federation is now being bashed online for taking the robot’s side instead of admitting the mistake made by the AI-powered device.
According to him, the incident only took place because the young opponent chose to hurry instead of playing smoothly and taking planned moves. And that is what led to the whole misunderstanding and hence the broken finger of the child ensued.
