Three People Dead And Three Children Injured In Horror Car Crash On New Year’s Eve


Three people were declared dead after a horrific car crash that took place on New Year’s Eve.

On December 31, at around 4.45 pm, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in Kells, Ireland. As a result of the crash, which still remains under investigation, three people have lost their lives. An additional three have sustained injuries.

According to the reports, a young couple was in one of the cars involved in the crash. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the accident, the two victims, both in their 20s, were identified as Shane Gilchrist and Saoirse Corrigan. As The Irish Sun revealed, Corrigan had just started her job as a teacher before the tragedy.

In the other car, there was one woman in her 20s along with three children including two baby girls and a 12-year-old boy.

The woman suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meanwhile, the two baby girls and the boy were rushed to the hospital.

While the 12-year-old remains in critical condition, the two girls are believed to be out of life-threatening danger.

After the devastating collision, the Gardai – the Irish police – have launched an investigation and appealed to anyone with information or footage of the crash to come forth immediately.

“Kells Gardaí are investigating a 2 car fatal traffic collision on the N52, Lloyds, Kells, Co.Meath which occurred 31/12/2021 shortly after 4 pm,” their statement read.

“Any person traveling in the area or with any information or dashcam footage is asked to contact Gardaí at Kells at 046 9280820.

“3 persons (2 female and 1 male all in their 20s were deceased), 3 children were taken to hospital for treatment. Gardaí have completed a forensic examination of the scene, investigations are ongoing.”
