A triple tragedy took place at a Georgia lake after a young woman died alongside her two younger brothers.
22-year-old Raven Powell took her brothers, 3-year-old Sawyer and 4-year-old Mason, on an outing in the Amity Recreation Area at Georgia’s Clarks Hill Lake on June 23.
While the circumstances of their adventure remain a mystery, all three siblings appear to have died from drowning.
According to the reports, it took the police several hours to retrieve the bodies. As of this writing, foul play has not yet been ruled out and it remains unclear what caused all three siblings to drown.
“They were our world. They mean everything to us,” the siblings’ cousin, Hannah Redfern, said in an interview with WISTV.
“It’s crazy how it happened within a blink of an eye, makes me not even want to come back to the lake again. Both boys were the happiest ever. They are at peace now.”
While she didn’t reveal any specific details, Hannah insisted her cousins died in a “horrible” way.
The police have since the tragic drowning revealed that the incident took place sometime after 5 pm on June 23, whereas the police responded to a call about possible drownings at around 9 pm.
Some two hours after arriving at the scene, the authorities recovered all three bodies using Sonar devices.
Furthermore, Raven’s pictures taken shortly before the incident revealed that at least one of the boys was wearing a lifejacket while swimming in the hours leading to the triple drowning.
“We have not ruled out anything at this point as the autopsy will hopefully provide us with more information as well as the interviews and other investigative leads we are following,” Pat Morgan of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
