A somber bride was pictured in her wedding dress while posing in her family home that was wrecked in a Russian strike.
It was the eve of her wedding day when 31-year-old Daria Steniukova from the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia was preparing for what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life when her family home was destroyed by Russian missiles.
According to the reports, the missiles were launched from the direction of the Black Sea before striking an office block in the city.
In the last week’s missile attack, which Ukrainian officials have branded as an act of terrorism, at least 24 people were killed and hundreds were injured.
Following the blast, Daria, who is a yoga teacher, donned her wedding dress and defiantly posed for photos inside her wrecked home.
The young bride has since spoken out and revealed that she and her partner were forced to postpone the celebration of their wedding because “there was mourning” in their city.
She also revealed she asked photographer Oleksandr Demianiv to take photos of her in her broken home because “the whole world should know what Russia is doing.”
The tear-jerking pictures come just days after it was revealed that a 4-year-old girl was among the victims killed in the airstrike on Vinnytsia.
Little Liza Dmitrieva was in her stroller when the missiles hit the city just yards away from the child. While Liza’s mom, Irina, was severely injured in the blast, the girl died on the scene as a result of her injuries.
Since her death, a heartbreaking video showing the little girl pushing her own stroller just an hour before the explosion has emerged.
“[Liza’s] mother was robbed of the most precious thing she had,” Irina’s aunt, Tetiana Dmytrysyna, said as the family laid the child to rest.
Our hearts go out to the victims of Russian atrocities in Ukraine.
